Midlands Technical College received a $348,515 Project Grant award from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Postsecondary Education under the TRIO Student Support Services program (CFDA 84.042) on September 25, 2025. The award supports a one-year grant period extending through September 24, 2026, to deliver comprehensive student support services benefiting 185 first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities enrolled in certificate, diploma, or degree programs at the institution's Columbia, South Carolina campus.
The TRIO Student Support Services program funds on-campus academic tutoring, financial literacy instruction, career counseling, and academic advising designed to increase retention and graduation rates among disadvantaged student populations. Through this award, Midlands Technical College will provide targeted supportive services to enhance student success in postsecondary education completion and facilitate student transfer pathways from two-year to four-year institutions, consistent with the federal program's mission to support vulnerable and underrepresented populations in higher education.
