The Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education awarded Miles College, Inc. $1.275 million on October 1, 2025, under the Higher Education Institutional Aid program (CFDA 84.031), a Project Grant providing funding to strengthen management and fiscal operations and to plan, develop, or implement activities including endowment building to strengthen academic quality.
Miles College, a private non-profit historically black college and university in Fairfield, Alabama, will perform the work through September 30, 2027. The program provides grants to eligible institutions of higher education that meet criteria including low average per full-time equivalent educational and general expenditures and substantial enrollment of students with Pell Grants or other Federal need-based financial aid. For historically black institutions, eligibility requires establishment prior to 1964 with a principal mission of educating African Americans.
