ADVANCING WEST VIRGINIA'S SEXUAL ASSAULT COALITION'S PRIMARY PREVENTION AND HEALTH EQUITY EFFORTS - AS WEST VIRGINIA'S STATE SEXUAL ASSAULT COALITION AND AN INTEGRAL PARTNER ON WEST VIRGINIA'S CURRENT RAPE PREVENTION AND EDUCATION (RPE) PROGRAM ADDRESSING SEXUAL VIOLENCE IN THE STATE, THE WEST VIRGINIA FOUNDATION FOR RAPE INFORMATION AND SERVICES (FRIS) PROPOSES TO CONDUCT AN ASSESSMENT OF ITS CAPACITY TO PLAN AND IMPLEMENT PRIMARY PREVENTION-FOCUSED STRATEGIES, AND INCORPORATE THOSE FINDINGS INTO A RECOMMENDED PLAN FOR INTEGRATING A HEALTH EQUITY FOCUS INTO FUTURE PRIMARY PREVENTION STRATEGIES. THESE RECOMMENDATIONS AND STRATEGIES WILL BE BASED ON DATA TO HELP IDENTIFY THE HEALTH DISPARITIES OF WEST VIRGINIA'S RPE PROGRAM'S TARGET POPULATIONS: PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES; CHILDREN AND YOUTH; COLLEGE-AGED ADULTS. FRIS WILL UTILIZE EXISTING AND EXPANDED PARTNERSHIPS WITH EXPERTISE TO BOTH FILL IN CAPACITY GAPS AND COLLABORATE TO BRING AWARENESS TO AND ADDRESS SEXUAL VIOLENCE AND THE CONTRIBUTING INEQUITIES THAT CREATE A DISPROPORTIONATE BURDEN OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE FOR THE TARGET POPULATIONS, AS WELL AS TO MITIGATE THE NEGATIVE HEALTH OUTCOMES SEXUAL VIOLENCE CAUSES.
