Description
- Abstract
- Summary preventing and ending child sexual abuse, and all sexual violence, is not only possible but a social and moral imperative. The connecticut alliance to end sexual violence recognizes the need for a collective, multi-sectoral effort and commitment. This proposal outlines the alliance's approach to assessing the capacity of the state-wide anti-sexual violence coalition and its many community and state partners to use available data and gather new quantitative and qualitative data to better understand the state's assets that can be better harnessed as well as gaps that can be filled in order to increase and improve primary prevention efforts. By the end of the 12-month project period, the alliance anticipates achieving the following outcomes through the capacity assessment process and evaluation: improved partnerships with stakeholders interested in preventing sexual violence and increasing health equity. Increased understanding of existing obstacles and facilitators of primary prevention program implementation. Increased understanding of staff and leadership ability and commitment to implement primary prevention programs through the framework of the nine principles of prevention. Increased understanding of community level data sources available to help in the identification of populations and communities of focus. Increased understanding of partner characteristics that facilitate and challenge collaborative engagement in primary prevention activities. Increased understanding of what aspects of the technical assistance the alliance provides are having an impact and changing the ways prevention education is being delivered, and how well technical assistance incorporates health equity. Increased understanding of what additional technical assistance from the alliance is needed to increase the adoption of primary prevention and evidence-based approaches.
