The National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), through its Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production (CFDA 10.935) program, awarded a $250,000 Project Grant to the Living Well Kent Collaborative, a non-profit organization, on September 25, 2023. This grant funding will be used to transform the food production system in South King County, Washington, in order to improve food security and advance equity among historically marginalized BIPOC, immigrant, and refugee producers and consumers. The project aims to establish community gardens and urban farms in the targeted region, providing access to fresh, locally-grown produce for underserved populations through September 2025. As a sub-awardee, Living Well Kent Collaborative has also partnered with King County on grants supporting lead exposure education and outreach to at-risk communities.
