Description
Drug free community grant for adair county opioid coalition - the adair county opioid coalition was created to help provide education and reduce the abuse of opioid use in adair county as well as surrounding counties reaching about 30,000 individuals in our rural towns. The coalition consists of several different stakeholders in adair county and now has integrated stakeholders in schuyler county. By using the 3 P's of public health the coalition can prevent substance use among youth, promote evidence-based practices and interventions, and protect our communities. By using evidence-based practices and interventions as well as collaborating with local stakeholders the coalition can and will continue to provide education to the general public and in school settings. Holding annual drug education summits and high school symposiums will provide up-to-date information and help keep the public informed. These promising-practice interventions will also help integrate messaging in both parents and students by simultaneously happening in the same time frame. IT is the coalition's hope that by 2024 there will be a reduction in youth alcohol, opioid, and marijuana use and that the coalition will see an increase in coalition membership.
