Description

Prevention partners coalition is committed to reducing youth substance use through community collaboration in the greater hamilton, OH (45011, 45013, 45015) area. - goal #1: establish and strengthen collaboration among communities. The coalition serves as the conduit for people across multiple community sectors to come together and work collectively on youth substance use concerns. Community collaboration is achieved by staying informed and engaged in hamilton's cultural hubs, neighborhood volunteer groups, schools, arts and recreation organizations, and chamber of commerce. Additionally, trainings are conducted at each coalition meeting to ensure coalition members have a thorough understanding of coalition processes, environmental prevention strategies, and the prevention theories and models that guide our work. The coalition also assists coalition members with financial support. Goal #2: reduce substance use among youth and, over time, reduce substance abuse among adults. The coalition actively monitors youth use prevalence data that informs the coalition of its effectiveness in reducing youth substance use. Concurrently, the prevention strategies that target hamilton's youth are also positioned to create overall healthier parents, families, neighborhoods, and communities, thus having the goal of reducing substance abuse among adults as well. Without this coalition, there would be no convening group representing the community's voice on these issues, nor an active body actively implementing research-based prevention strategies that promote health and wellness within hamilton, ohio.
