Description

We will bring students from area schools to the upland, mid elevation, and coastal sections (mauka to makai/ridge to reef) of the kamakoa, waikoloa/waiulaula, keahole honokohau, and waiaha watersheds to engage in meaningful watershed educational experiences including hands-on science, social studies, hawaiian studies, math, and language arts activities. Students will learn about the current and historical connections between mauka and makai sections of the watershed's ahupuaa, and issues impacting the condition of associated streams, forests, coral reefs, coastal ecosystems, and global climate change. Students and teachers will help improve the condition of their ahupuaa through stewardship projects and conclude the year with a final presentation on a local environmental issue and solution of their choice, INC
