The Metna Co received a $400,000 Project Grant award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program (CFDA 11.021) to develop an underwater adhesive for coral restoration. The two-year award runs from February 1, 2021 through January 31, 2023 and will support the company's efforts to create an adhesive well-suited for repairing and reattaching coral reef structures damaged by natural or human-caused events. The NOAA SBIR Program aims to stimulate technological innovation in small businesses to meet federal research needs and increase commercialization of federally funded research, with a focus on issues related to oceanic and atmospheric science.
