This federal Project Grant award of $300,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Promotion of the Humanities Public Programs (CFDA 45.164) supports the development of "MISSION US: ISLA PRECIOSA", a digital learning game about the U.S. invasion of Puerto Rico in 1898 and its aftermath. The game, produced by the non-profit media company Wnet, will explore the experiences and perspectives of diverse Puerto Ricans during the transition from Spanish to American governance. Through an interactive narrative, players will develop knowledge of the causes and effects of U.S. overseas expansionism. As a sub-awardee, Wnet has also previously collaborated with Education Development Center, Inc. to create curriculum and training for the Mission US classroom gaming platform to aid middle school American history education.
