This federal Project Grant award of $475,650 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services' Museums for America (CFDA 45.301) program supports Clockshop, a minority-owned and woman-owned non-profit arts organization in Los Angeles, to conduct a cultural asset mapping process. Through this project, Clockshop will engage the diverse local communities near a planned 18-acre state park to document their cultural practices, personal histories, and lived experiences through oral histories, photography, and mini-documentaries. The resulting bilingual cultural asset map and associated public programs and temporary public art projects will integrate these underrepresented community narratives into the interpretation and development of the future state park. Clockshop will hire a full-time community programs manager and engage artists, facilitators, interpreters, and an archivist to produce these cultural documentation outputs in collaboration with a neighborhood advisory council and California State Parks.
