VICTORIA COLLEGE'S MUSEUM OF THE COASTAL BEND IN VICTORIA, TEXAS, WILL PROVIDE TWO PAID INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO ASSIST IN MIGRATING CATALOG DATA TO A NEW COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. VICTORIA COLLEGE IS A HISPANIC SERVING INSTITUTION (HSI) WITH OVER HALF OF ITS STUDENT POPULATION IDENTIFYING AS LATINO. BUILDING UPON A PREVIOUS IMLS PROJECT, THIS IS THE SECOND PHASE OF A STEWARDSHIP INITIATIVE TO DIGITIZE AND CATALOG COLLECTIONS. THE PROJECT WILL PROVIDE HANDS-ON SKILLS AND TRAINING TO STUDENTS AND PUTS THE MUSEUM ONE STEP CLOSER TO PROVIDING AN OPEN DATABASE.
