The Long Island Jewish Medical Center, a hospital and non-profit organization under the Northwell Health system, received a $899,062 Project Grant award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) under the Autism Collaboration, Accountability, Research, Education, and Support (CARES) Act of 2014 (CFDA 93.877) program.
The grant award will support the "TRANSITION FOR YOUTH WITH AUTISM AND/OR EPILEPSY DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS" over a period of 5 years from September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2029. The project aims to develop and implement evidence-based practices, improve screening and diagnostic tools, and enhance health outcomes for children, adolescents, and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and/or epilepsy, particularly those from underserved populations. The award will enable the medical center to partner with community organizations, workforce boards, and other healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive transition support services, career pathways training, and integrated care coordination for this target population.
