The Anderson Valley Health Center (AVHC), a non-profit federally qualified community health center in Boonville, California, was awarded a $600,000 FY 2024 Behavioral Health Service Expansion grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) under the Community Health Centers (CFDA 93.224) program. This two-year project grant will enable AVHC to expand access to behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment services for its low-income, general community population and migrant and seasonal farmworkers. Specifically, AVHC will train bilingual staff in SUD screening, outreach, and treatment, provide culturally appropriate options for peer counseling, medication management, and individual counseling, and increase access to mental health care, particularly for youth and Spanish-speaking patients. The grant aims to add 115 new mental health patients, 90 new SUD patients, and 45 new medication-assisted treatment patients, including 30 migrant and seasonal farmworkers.
