The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded a $500,000 per year, 2-year Project Grant under the Community Health Centers program (CFDA 93.224) to Winding Waters Medical Clinic, a non-profit healthcare organization in Enterprise, Oregon. The grant will fund the expansion of comprehensive primary care services, including medical, dental, mental health, pharmacy, and complementary care, at three of the clinic's clinical sites in the frontier community of Wallowa County. This expansion will add 20 additional hours of access per week, including Saturdays, to improve accessibility for the vulnerable population in this rural area, where over 30% live below 200% of the federal poverty level. The project will also address other barriers to care, such as transportation, language assistance, and the need for non-clinical support services, through initiatives like expanded telehealth and care navigation. Additionally, the funding will support efforts to ensure the clinic's workforce well-being and sustainability in order to deliver high-quality, culturally competent care to this underserved community.
