The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded a $500,000 Project Grant under the Community Health Centers (CFDA 93.224) program to La Maestra Family Clinic, Inc., a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in San Diego, California. The grant will fund La Maestra's Expanded Hours project, which aims to increase access to comprehensive primary care, mental health, and substance use disorder services by expanding weekday hours from 6 PM to 9 PM and Saturday hours from 2 PM to 6 PM at the organization's main clinic location. The project will deploy two interdisciplinary care teams to serve hard-to-reach, at-risk populations including low-income individuals, racial/ethnic minorities, LGBTQ2S+ individuals, homeless persons, immigrants, refugees, veterans, and formerly incarcerated individuals. The grant's objectives are to provide services to a minimum of 700 new unduplicated patients and 3,382 existing unduplicated patients by November 30, 2026, as well as conduct at least 120 outreach events annually to maximize exposure to the expanded services.
