The program aims to divert individuals in mental health or substance use disorder crisis from criminal justice involvement and hospital emergency departments while reducing suicide and overdose deaths. The focus population comprises individuals age 5 and older experiencing mental health or substance use crises in Clarksville. Capacity-building strategies include expanded staff positions to increase access to mobile crisis co-response and post-crisis support; expanded community partnerships to strengthen the crisis care continuum; and increased access to evidence-based training including Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), and Crisis Assistance and Lethality Management (CALM) training.
