The National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City, Inc. (NAMI-NYC) received a $1,500,000 Project Grant award under the Congressional Directives program (CFDA 93.493) from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The grant will enable NAMI-NYC to provide peer-based, culturally and age-appropriate education and support programs to 1,500 individuals in New York City living with serious mental illness (SMI) and their family members/caregivers and friends. Funding will increase the capacity of NAMI-NYC's helpline, classes, support groups, family match program, public education events, and community-based and school-based presentations. The project aims to increase NAMI-NYC's visibility within New York City's underserved communities to improve access to mental health support and education. The grant period runs from September 30, 2024 to September 29, 2025.
