Description

Immigrant mental health initiative - the arab-american family support center (aafsc), in collaboration with the academy of medical & public health services (amphs), respectfully requests funding to support our immigrant mental health initiative, which provides NYC's immigrant and refugee communities with culturally and linguistically competent, trauma informed outreach and individual counseling. Together, our organizations have the capacity to provide mental health services and outreach in the languages designated by the NYC mayor's office of immigrant affairs as the top languages spoken by immigrants in the city: spanish, chinese - including cantonese and mandarin - bengali, arabic, and urdu in addition to hindi, punjabi, and dari. Our program will provide NYC's immigrant and refugee communities with culturally and linguistically competent, trauma informed outreach and one-on-one individual mental health counseling from licensed practitioners who reflect the amenamsa (arab, middle eastern, north african, muslim, south asian), aapi (asian-american and pacific islander), latinx, and all-inclusive community we serve.
