Description

Behavioral health integration & guidance (bhig) initiative at children's health - the behavioral health integration & guidance (bhig) initiative at children's health is an innovative and collaborative approach to developing capacity within pediatric primary care to detect and treat behavioral health conditions and improve access to care. Through this program, children's health trains primary care providers to identify and treat children and youth with mild-to-moderate mental health conditions in their daily practice with an initial focus on depression, anxiety, substance abuse, adverse childhood experiences and psychotropic medications. This is accomplished through integrated care, a comprehensive approach to patient care that combines evidence-based primary care and mental health services through enhanced screening, communication and coordination. The purpose is to expand access to mental and behavioral health services for children and youth.
