Description

Ywca new hampshire congressionally directed spending acert expansion grant - to continue working to reduce trauma and expanding a model that has proven to be successful, manchester will implement the proposed project, ywca NH acert congressional directed spending, to enhance its innovative adverse child experiences response team (acert), which uses a multidisciplinary approach to meet the immediate needs of children and families exposed to trauma. The proposed project would expand acert into ten additional NH communities, broaden services to include more culturally responsive offerings, and streamline training for all acert partners to include diversity, equity, and inclusion topic areas. Manchester is the largest city in new hampshire (NH), with a population of 115,644 . Poverty, violence, racial inequality, and the opioid crisis disproportionately impact manchester, resulting in a sizeable and growing group of traumatized and highly vulnerable young children and families who need evidence-based, trauma-informed mental health services. Since 2015, acert has provided more than 1,200 children with referrals to services. More communities in NH are in need of acert programs, but have limited resources to begin the planning process. Samhsa funds will enable manchester to enhance and expand the acert model through the following goals: goal 1: expand and strengthen our technical assistance center through planning grants provided to other cities/towns interested in launching an acert program, including ongoing technical assistance and support; goal 2: expand services offered to children and families served by acert to include services that are culturally responsive to bipoc families and communities; goal 3: increase knowledge and skills for all acert partners in manchester and in communities receiving planning grants around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work and increasing culturally responsive services; goal 4: develop new, innovative programming that continues to expand upon the services offered to acert children and families based on their identified needs; and goal 5: streamline training and support for all acert partners, including new planning grant communities, through a 2-day acert summit bringing together all partners for training, collaboration, and technical assistance opportunities. This enhanced training and technical assistance infrastructure will enable manchester to expand its own acert program while assisting other communities in need in NH to bring acert to their communities as well, serving thousands more children throughout the state in following years. 1 https://WWW.census.GOV/quickfacts/fact/table/manchestercitynewhampshire/PST045217
