Description
Community project funding/congressionally directed spending - non-construction - this project reflects the commitment that aadap has held for over 50 years to provide culturally-relevant services in the most appropriate settings to reach underserved communities. This project will bring essential SUD treatment and mental health services to a highly impacted population- women in need of SUD treatment that are prenatal and with young children, providing access to safe and dignified housing for clients who complete drug treatment at aadap who are in the process of their mainstream RE-socialization in the community regardless of race, ethnic background, social and economic status, gender, and others. This funding would allow US to continue to finish the renovation of the facility. Some of the additional work will not require any permits or inspection (landscaping and patio renovation). However the historic preservation overlay zone committee will need to review and approve any major changes to the front yard landscaping. The detached garage remodel that will allow for a private staff meeting space will require additional engineering, building and safety review and approval, and inspections, but this work could begin after the existing main building was complete. We have completed most of the demolition work and are working on the rough-in portion of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC as well reviewing the planned changes needed for the existing sprinkler system as well as the associated alarm system. The plumbing system in particular has been haphazardly completed over the years and we will have a more streamlined system that will be efficient - one main line heading to the sewer (VS. Several ones, some inoperable) and more accessible for future maintenance. All of these renovations will have a few phases of completion and inspection by various city agencies, but this is anticipated and included in our timeline. We also are confident of our budgetary needs to complete the project. Because we have opened almost all of the WA LLS and floors, and have had multiple vendors bid on each piece of the project, we have uncovered most of the unforeseen issues and that leads US to a solid and accurate budget for anticipated completion of the renovation. Work that we have not begun but is in the planning stages include design work for the remaining landscaping, patio improvements and rehabilitating the top floor of the garage from storage units into a usable office space for private staff meetings. The reason these parts of the project were deprioritized are tied to the less critical nature of these items to RE-open the treatment program and the need to reduce project costs as the initial scope of the project widened quickly and rapidly. IT was felt that the facility could reopen and that these projects could be eventually completed once the program was generating revenue.
