Description

America's campus: civics education and public history [the museum of the american revolution (MOAR) respectfully requests a $30,000 chairman?S grant to support a joint event between MOAR and the american council of trustees and alumni (ACTA) to build momentum for more robust education in american history and government at our nation's colleges and universities. Our nation's universities are doing too little to prepare students for the responsibilities of citizenship. The damage this has caused was evident in losing americas memory 2.0, ACTA's national survey assessing 3,000 students on their knowledge of U.S. History and government. Colleges and universities must do more to foster a renewed civic spirit on campus and help students regain faith in the democratic process and engage with a wide range of viewpoints. With that clear aim, MOAR and ACTA propose a joint event, at MOAR in spring 2026, for higher education leaders to raise awareness of the crisis of civic illiteracy on campus and ways that they can chart a better course forward.]
