PROJECT ABSTRACT SUMMARYPROJECT TITLE: FURTHER DEVELOPMENT AND STANDARDIZATION OF LANDSLIDE HAZARD RESOURCES FORTHE STATE OF WEST VIRGINIAPROJECT PERIOD: 8 1 2025 TO 07 31 2026AWARD PURPOSE:THIS PROPOSED PROJECT REPRESENTS A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE WEST VIRGINIA GEOLOGICAL ANDECONOMIC SURVEY (WVGES) AND THE WEST VIRGINIA GIS TECHNICAL CENTER (WVGISTC) TO BUILDUPON PRIOR PROJECTS AND FURTHER DEVELOP LANDSLIDE DATA FOR THE STATE ALONG WITH ASSOCIATEDRESOURCES FOR THE PUBLIC, COMMUNITY LEADERS, REGULATORS, AND GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS. TO PROVIDECONSISTENT, AUDIENCE APPROPRIATE, ACCURATE, AND WELL DOCUMENTED DATA AND RESOURCES ASSOCIATEDWITH HAZARDS, INCLUDING LANDSLIDES TO SUPPORT INFORMED DECISION MAKING AT MULTIPLE SCALES WITHINTHE STATE.ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED:1. FURTHER DEVELOP THE LANDSLIDE INVENTORY FOR THE ENTIRETY OF WEST VIRGINIA. CURRENTLY A POINTDATASET OF 116,000 INCIDENCE POINTS INTERPRETED FROM LIDAR-DERIVED TERRAIN SURFACES AND OTHERANCILLARY DATA LAYERS BY ANALYSTS AT THE WVGISTC EXISTS.2. FURTHER DEVELOP AND REFINE THE WEST VIRGINIA LANDSLIDE TOOL AND LINK TO OTHER RESOURCESINCLUDING THE WEBPAGE AND WEST VIRGINIA FLOODRESILIENCY FRAMEWORK.3. INTEGRATE EXISTING LANDSLIDE DATA AND THOSE DEVELOPED AS PART OF THIS PROJECT INTO THE WESTVIRGINIA RISK EXPLORER WEBSITE (HTTPS: WWW.WVFRF.ORG WVRE ) TO ACCOMPANY EXISTING HAZARD ANDRESILIENCY INFORMATION.4. UPDATE THE WEBPAGE AND LINK AND ALIGN IT WITHTHE WVGISTC RESOURCES TO DEVELOP A CONSISTENT SET OF UP-TO-DATE RESOURCES.DELIVERABLES AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES:AN UPDATED LANDSLIDE INVENTORY WILL BE INTEGRATED INTO THE WEST VIRGINIA LANDSLIDE TOOL. THISWILL, FOR THE FIRST TIME, INCLUDE LINES AND POLYGONS. THE WEST VIRGINIA LANDSLIDE TOOL WILL BEUPDATED TO INCLUDE THE NEW LANDSLIDE INVENTORY AND ALLOW FOR DATA DOWNLOAD. ASSOCIATEDSTORYMAPS AND UPDATED LINKS WILL BE DEVELOPED. NEWLY DEVELOPED LANDSLIDE DATA WILL BEINCORPORATED INTO THE WEST VIRGINIA FLOOD RESILIENCY FRAMEWORK WEBSITE WHICH INCLUDES THEWEST VIRGINIA RISK EXPLORER. FINALLY, AN UPDATED WEBSITE DETAILING GEOLOGIC HAZARDINTENDED BENEFICIARY(IES):THIS PROJECT HAS MANY PRACTICAL BENEFITS WITHIN THE STATE OF WEST VIRGINIA. IT WILL PROVIDERESIDENCE, COMMUNITIES, COMMUNITY LEADERS, REGULATORS, AND GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS WITHACTIONABLE DATA RELATING TO LANDSLIDE RISK AND OCCURRENCE.SUBRECIPIENT ACTIVITIES:THERE ARE NO SUBRECIPIENT ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED WITH ANY PROJECTS.S WILL BE BUILTTO INCLUDE HOW TO ACCESS THE ABOVE TOOLS AND EXPLAIN LANDSLIDE HAZARDS.
