Description
- Purpose
- The veteran's center INC. Fair housing initiative program - fair housing organization initiative continuing development component, is to address and counteract discriminatory housing practices through a comprehensive approach that encompasses intake, testing, education, and outreach activities. Committed to the eradication of discrimination in housing, our focus is on informing the public of their rights and responsibilities under the fair housing act.
- Activities
- Activities to performed: the activities performed by the veterans center will enhance our capacity for detailed investigations into housing discrimination, especially in the wake of covid-19. We will expand our expertise in specific areas such as mortgage lending bias, algorithmic housing discrimination online, biases in homeowners' insurance, title and escrow testing, systematic testing and discriminatory patterns in mortgage lending contracts, appraisals, deeds, and agreements. These efforts aim to address both overt and subtle forms of discrimination in the housing sector
- Expected outcomes
- Expected outcomes: in line with the fair housing initiative program - fair housing organization initiative continuing development component, our project is poised to deliver pivotal outcomes. We anticipate a substantial enhancement in our capacity to enforce fair housing regulations, specifically through targeted investigations into discriminatory practices like mortgage lending bias and algorithmic discrimination. A significant elevation in public awareness of fair housing rights is also expected, particularly among minority communities, aligning with the RFP's emphasis on education and outreach. We foresee a measurable reduction in discriminatory housing practices, contributing directly to HUD's strategic goals of promoting fair housing and enforcing non-discrimination. Additionally, our efforts will support post-covid homeownership retention among minority homebuyers, addressing specific pandemic-related housing challenges. Collectively, these outcomes will mark a notable advancement in fair housing choices for protected classes, reflecting our commitment to creating more inclusive and equitable housing opportunities in georgia.
- Intended beneficiaries
- Intended beneficiaries: diverse communities in metro and rural georgia, particularly focusing on individuals and families from protected classes, including those facing discrimination due to disability, race, national origin, and familial status.
