Description
- Activities
- Activities to be performed: the council proposes to plan, develop and conduct 4 workshops on housing discrimination; plan, develop and conduct a media and web-based marketing campaign and to develop, publish and distribute a fair housing brochure in english, spanish, korean and other languages as needed, in order to inform people of their fair housing rights and of fair housing enforcement efforts within the state of NJ.
- Expected outcomes
- Expected outcomes: this project will involve close contact with HUD, the new jersey division on civil rights (fhap agency) and private advocacy groups on developing materials for education and outreach. The areas of concentration will focus on southern and northeastern new jersey where previous systemic testing revealed a high level of discrimination against minorities of color, families with children and persons with disabilities and where there is a need for education and outreach on the fair housing act. The council expects that the proposed activities will result in increased knowledge of fair housing rights and increased enforcement of those rights through the filling of complaints with HUD and/or the NJ DCR
- Intended beneficiaries
- Intended beneficiaries: the intended beneficiaries of this project include all new jerseyans who are protected under state and federal fair housing laws including those who experience discrimination based on race/color, religion, disability, familial status, sexual orientation and gender identity and all protected classes under the fair housing act. Funding of this fhip-EOI-g project will help all new jersey families and individuals and support HUD's goal of affirmatively furthering fair housing opportunities
