About this award

Grant Award Summary

Ducks Unlimited, Inc.'s Great Lakes/Atlantic Regional Office received a $587,786 Project Grant award from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (DOI) under the Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration (NRDAR) Program (CFDA 15.658) on July 1, 2025, for Priority Wetlands Restorations Phase III. The project, with completion targeted for June 30, 2027, combines $293,711 in NRDA funds with $294,075 in matching funds to restore and enhance 491 acres of emergent wetlands across four priority sites in the Fox River Green Bay focus area: Grand River Wildlife Area Hope Marsh (200 acres), Navarino Wildlife Area South Wolf River Flowage (153 acres), Lower Wolf River Bottomlands Natural Resource Area Embarass Flowage (128 acres), and a Priority Waterfowl Production Area (10 acres), with an additional potential restoration site identified at Uihlein Waterfowl Production Area.

The primary products and services delivered through this award include flowage renovation work focusing on repairing and reshaping berms, replacing damaged water control structures, and related habitat restoration activities. These restoration efforts will improve wildlife habitat for waterfowl, marsh birds, shorebirds, and other wildlife species while providing water quality benefits to the impacted ecosystem. The Phase III initiative builds on the successful outcomes of prior Phase I and II efforts, which demonstrated the ability to leverage NRDA funds to exceed established acreage restoration goals.
