The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) was awarded a $13,682,680 project grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service under the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation-U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Conservation Partnership (CFDA #15.663) program. The grant aims to support conservation programs that further the mutual missions of NFWF and FWS to conserve fish, wildlife, plants and other natural resources.
Through 11 sub-awards totaling $6,841,311 in funding, the grant will support on-the-ground conservation projects focused on habitat restoration, species recovery, and reduction of threats like predation and human disturbance. Projects include establishing a new marine protected area in El Salvador to safeguard hawksbill turtle habitat, improving riparian areas along a stream in Arizona that supports Apache trout, and coordinating efforts across 40 organizations to improve survival of American oystercatchers on the U.S. East Coast. NFWF will provide matching funds of at least 1:1 and engage FWS in the grant selection process for applicable programs.
