Description
The project includes relocating a previously used steel bridge to the site to provide access over a small drainage way. Removable docks will be provided on the river for boat and fishing access. Nearby parking lot improvements and signage will be installed. Work will be completed by village staff and equipment, and will include erosion control, tree and brush clearing, construction of bridge support pilings, construction of the boardwalk, installation and removal of docks, trash removal and maintenance of the boardwalk and docks. IT is expected that more people will be able to access duck creek for fishing from this location. This project will also provide a location for small boats such as kayaks and canoes to launch or rest, and sightseers, hikers, and bird watchers to explore. The west deerfield drive site will provide safe canoe and kayak access to duck creek and lower green BAY by adding a new kayak launch. The project includes reconstructing a portion of existing boardwalk to provide safe access from the roadway. The kayak launch platform will be provided for boat and fishing access. Nearby road striping and signage will be installed. Work will be completed by village staff and equipment, and will include erosion control, brush clearing, construction of a new portion of boardwalk and reconstruction of an existing portion of boardwalk, post installation for stiff-arms, trash removal, and maintenance of the boardwalk launch equipment. IT is expected that more people will be able to access duck creek from this location because of the ease of access, and IT will promote water recreation, expand fishing opportunities, bird watching and cultural access in a relatively undisturbed and valuable section of waterway.
