Description

The objective of this grant agreement is to support the annual lone star land steward program.on may 26, 2022, texas parks and wildlife department and its partners will celebrate the 26TH annual lone star land steward awards at the hyatt regency in austin. The lone star land steward awards recognize private landowners in texas for their contributions to land, water, and wildlife stewardship in texas, approximately 94 percent of land is privately owned, and the participation of private landowners is essential to the continued success of natural resource and conservation programs. Established in 1996, the lone star land steward awards program recognizes and honors private landowners in texas for their voluntary contributions to habitat enhancement, wildlife conservation, and natural resource management. The program supports president biden's "america the beautiful" initiative by pursuing a collaborative and inclusive approach to conservation through educating landowners and the public about the importance of texas' natural resources. Also, by supporting locally led and locally designed conservation efforts through natural resources agencies such as the USFWS's partners for fish and wildlife program. Lastly, this program also supports biden's initiative by honoring private property rights, supporting the voluntary stewardship efforts of private landowners and encouraging voluntary participation in habitat conservation, and promoting sustainable land management. The U.S. Fish and wildlife service (USFWS) will not be substantially involved in the lone star land steward awards program; however, the USFWS will provide $10,000 of federal funds as a grant for program support to develop outreach and promotional (print and video) materials for the event.
