Description
Upstander academy: rethreading the needle of the native american history narrative is designed to give 25 participants an immersive, experiential understanding of 17TH and 18TH century native american history and how the teaching of this history can help animate and inform our understanding of the present as we approach the 250TH anniversary of the signing of the declaration of independence. Funding by the NEH for the 2023 upstander academy institute would support the eighth year of programming, and the first year of three focusing attention on the historical contextualization of 250TH anniversary commemorations. NEH funding would support two weeks of programming, core faculty and guest speakers, and stipends for participants from across the country.]
