This federal Project Grant award from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Promotion of the Humanities Professional Development program (CFDA 45.163) provides $117,725 to the Rubin Museum of Art, also known as the Shelley and Donald Rubin Cultural Trust, to develop a virtual one-week summer institute. The institute will introduce 30-35 higher education faculty to Himalayan art and cultural traditions, highlighting connections to East Asian, South, and Inner-Asian cultures and humanities subjects. The 6-day virtual workshop, scheduled for June 16 – July 2, 2025, will equip faculty with tools to incorporate Himalayan art and cultures into their wider curriculum of Asian studies. The award period runs from October 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025.
