Description

This EDA FY23 disaster supplemental economic adjustment assistance award to the city of granite falls will help upgrade the resiliency of the city's electrical grid to ensure businesses have more reliable access to power during future natural disaster events. The severe may 2022 windstorms resulted in power outages across western minnesota and lost production for many employers. The city of granite falls? Municipally-owned electric utility and local leaders determined that aging transformers and distribution components jeopardized the city?s ability to provide reliable power to industrial users especially during extreme temperature and disaster events. The EDA-funded grid infrastructure will ensure the city?s preparedness for future disasters and improve the region?s resiliency, so employers can continue to operate with reliable power during disaster events.
