Description

As the agency reported it.

Ascension parish government is addressing the local and regional need for infrastructure improvements to help sustain a viable economy and environment to support current industries while also attracting new and diverse ones. They are doing this by providing geometric improvements to LA highway 1, specifically an asymmetrical widening to provide access to the riverplex megapark. The economic impact will create hundreds of high quality jobs as well as help develop and expand industrial parks, transportation and distribution centers, ports, and research parks, while supporting continual development of robust regional business and industrial clusters. This project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the capital region planning commission. EDA funds the capital region planning commission to bring together the public and private sectors to create an economic development roadmap to strengthen the regional economy, support private capital investment and create jobs.
