The Northwest Regional Planning Commission (NWR) was awarded an $840,000 project grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) under the Economic Development Support for Planning Organizations program (CFDA 11.302) to develop and implement a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for a ten-county region in northwest Wisconsin from January 2023 through December 2025. Through this funding, NWR will lead a collaborative, regional planning process to create an economic roadmap that aims to diversify and strengthen the local economy in Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, Taylor, and Washburn counties. As part of the CEDS process, NWR will bring together public and private sector stakeholders to guide regional economic development efforts in the area through December 2025.
