The Georgia Mountains Regional Commission was awarded a $910,000 project grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration's Economic Development Support for Planning Organizations program to develop and implement a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the 12-county region it serves through December 2025. As part of the CEDS process, the Commission will bring together public and private sector stakeholders in the region to create an economic roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy. The grant funds will support the Commission's work to stimulate and guide economic development efforts across the region through creation of a comprehensive regional plan, in alignment with the goals of the EDA Planning program to foster economically distressed communities.
