About this award
The Philadelphia Works, Inc. was awarded a $45,552,722 project grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration to implement three sector partnerships focused on healthcare, energy, and construction through September 2025.
Under the grant, Philadelphia Works will partner with employers in each sector including Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania, PECO Energy, and Monroe Energy. The healthcare partnership, led by the West Philadelphia Skills Initiative, will place trainees in well-paying union jobs in healthcare. The energy partnership through the Philadelphia Energy Authority will train workers for solar jobs. All three sector partnerships aim to create pathways to stable employment for historically underserved communities in Philadelphia. The funding supports the Economic Adjustment Assistance program's goal of aiding regions facing adverse economic conditions through technical assistance and workforce development projects.
