The Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded a $500,000 Project Grant to the Minneapolis Saint Paul Regional Economic Development Partnership under the Economic Adjustment Assistance (EAA) program. The grant will support the Bold North Bioinnovation Cluster led by the Partnership to make Minnesota a leader in solving problems through bioinnovation. Funds will be used to invest in Black, Indigenous, and people of color workers, entrepreneurs, and existing businesses in the state's fast-growing bioinnovation sector. This aims to not only build on regional assets in bioinnovation but also overcome historical barriers to employment. Many of the largest bioinnovation employers were founded in Minnesota decades ago, growing to become global leaders, and this grant intends to support the next generation of such companies through targeted investments.
