The Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded $130,000 under the Economic Development Support for Planning Organizations (CFDA 11.302) federal grant program to the Western Illinois Regional Council to develop and implement a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the region comprising Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, and Warren Counties in Illinois. Through this January 1, 2022 project grant concluding December 31, 2022, the Western Illinois Regional Council will lead a collaborative public-private sector process to create an economic roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy in its six-county service area. The CEDS development process will bring together stakeholders to establish strategies, goals, and projects to guide regional development efforts.
