Description

The university of maryland, college park (UMD), together with team members bowie state university, coppin state university, morgan state university, and university of baltimore propose the maryland innovation extension university center (extension-UC). Extension-UC builds on UMD and morgan's foundational university center work (2011-present) to translate research and planning into action to transform regional capacity and training of innovative startups. The main objectives of the project are twofold: 1) develop programs and processes to achieve a steady pipeline of viable ventures and support system at each partner institution; 2) develop mutually beneficial relationships that build on UMD and partners' strengths and existing networks to knit together an extensive, more cohesive and inclusive ecosystem that supports high-growth entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, and cultivates a state-side culture of innovation all leading to greater resiliency for the state and region.
