Description
The goals and objectives of this project are to install the first community floating solar project in oregon, generate low-cost renewable energy for irrigators and low-income residents, and provide a new source of revenue for medford irrigation district (mid) to accelerate future modernization projects. In oregon, IT can be difficult to permit projects in the rogue valley due to construction restrictions on land deemed high-value soil. Because much of the valley is high-value soil, there are few locations to build solar projects. Many irrigation districts have reservoirs and are located near load, making them an ideal candidate for floating solar, which will avoid the traditional permitting issues surrounding high-value soils.
