Description
The overall project objective of this espc is to deliver an integrated and comprehensive energy security project across joint base mcguire, fort DIX, and naval air engineering station lakehurst (JBMDL) that will modernize and optimize base building systems while providing resiliency and mission assurance and continuity through a mix of distributed generation, energy efficiency, infrastructure, measures and targeted microgrid operation for critical loads. The project holistically leverages clean technology and carbon reduction opportunities at JBMDL, including deep energy retrofits on over 475 buildings throughout the installation to generate robust and impactful energy savings through controls and building envelope upgrades, lighting and electrical distribution improvements, and critical replacements of aging HVAC infrastructure. The distributed generation portfolio reduces installation energy demand with over 32 mega-watts of solar energy, 4 mega-watt hours of combined battery energy storage, and 4 mega-watts of gas fired steady state generation. These assets are integrated into a microgrid control systems at mcguire to ensure mission continuity of critical facilities in the event of a complete loss of utility, including flight towers and airfield operations.
