The Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC), a non-profit organization in Ghana, received a $484,972 Project Grant under the John E. Fogarty International Center's (CFDA 93.989) International Research and Research Training program. This 5-year grant (8/1/2024 - 2/28/2029) will support a project to strengthen Ghana's capacity for policy-relevant life course epidemiological research on non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The project leverages four existing Ghanaian cohorts to provide mentored research opportunities for Ghanaian physician scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and students to examine how environmental exposures impact NCD development and mortality. Training will be led by KHRC in partnership with the University of Ghana and Columbia University/Mount Sinai. The project aims to build a sustainable pipeline of Ghanaian researchers dedicated to developing evidence-based interventions to address the growing NCD burden in Ghana and West Africa.
