Description

- This grant funds the new york state department of environmental conservation (DEC) to perform the following activities: create a state-wide inventory of historic abandoned hardrock mines. The process to inventory and assess historic abandoned mines in new york will be conducted in three phases: research, field surveys, and hazard assessments. The goals of the phase 1 research are to create a geodatabase of abandoned mine land (AML) sites and to select the AML sites that will be field surveyed. The goals of the phase 2 field surveys are to confirm information gathered during the research, and detail site-specific features and hazards. The goal of the phase 3 hazard assessment is to evaluate AML sites and prioritize sites for reclamation as future funding becomes available. DEC will develop an AML inventory form that will record all relevant information pertaining to AML sites and associated features and reflect all phases of the inventory process. Activities funded by this grant must comply with the uniform guidance for grants and agreements (2 CFR 200), build america buy america, davis-bacon act, and infrastructure investment and jobs act, and include all costs necessary to conduct and manage the approved project.expected deliverables or outcomes: 1.
