THIS COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM AIMS TO PROVIDE ENRICHING ARTS AND CULTURAL EDUCATION DURING THE SCHOOL DAY, AS WELL AS THROUGH AFTERSCHOOL AND INTERSESSION PROGRAMS. FURTHERMORE, IT SEEKS TO EXTEND ITS IMPACT BY OFFERING OPEN PROGRAMS AT THE COMMUNITY SPACE KNOWN AS THE ART BARN, AS WELL AS ORGANIZING PERFORMANCES AND WORKSHOPS AT PUBLIC EVENTS SUCH AS THE HANA FARMERS MARKET AND FESTIVALS OF ALOHA. THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF HANA ARTS - HANA NO EAU IS TO EMPOWER THE STUDENTS OF HANA HIGH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BY PROVIDING THEM WITH A COMPREHENSIVE ARTS AND CULTURAL CURRICULUM. THROUGH ENGAGING AND IMMERSIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCES, STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE VARIOUS TRADITIONAL NATIVE HAWAIIAN PRACTICES, INCLUDING HULA, MELE, PAHEONA, AND OTHER ARTISTIC DISCIPLINES. THESE EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES WILL NOT ONLY ENHANCE THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS BUT ALSO FOSTER A DEEP SENSE OF CULTURAL IDENTITY AND PRIDE. IN ADDITION TO THE SCHOOL-BASED PROGRAMS, HANA ARTS - HANA NO EAU AIMS TO CREATE INCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE WIDER COMMUNITY. THE ART BARN WILL SERVE AS A GATHERING SPACE FOR WORKSHOPS, EXHIBITIONS, AND CULTURAL EVENTS, ALLOWING COMMUNITY MEMBERS OF ALL AGES TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE AND EXPERIENCE THE RICH HERITAGE OF NATIVE HAWAIIAN ARTS AND CULTURE. MOREOVER, THE PROGRAM WILL ACTIVELY ENGAGE WITH PUBLIC EVENTS, SUCH AS THE HANA FARMERS MARKET AND FESTIVALS OF ALOHA, PROVIDING PERFORMANCES, DEMONSTRATIONS, AND WORKSHOPS THAT CELEBRATE AND SHOWCASE THE TALENTS OF THE PARTICIPANTS. WITH A PROJECT BUDGET OF 150,000, INCLUDING A REQUESTED GRANT OF 100,000, HANA ARTS - HANA NO EAU WILL BE ABLE TO SECURE QUALIFIED KUMU (INSTRUCTORS) TO LEAD THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, ENSURING THE HIGHEST QUALITY OF INSTRUCTION. THE FUNDS WILL ALSO SUPPORT THE NECESSARY FRINGE BENEFITS FOR THE KUMU AND PROVIDE ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES TO FACILITATE HANDS-ON LEARNING AND ARTISTIC EXPRESSION. HANA ARTS - HANA NO EAU: A NATIVE HAWAIIAN ARTS CULTURE EDUCATION PROGRAM IS POISED TO MAKE A LASTING IMPACT IN THE HNA COMMUNITY BY REVITALIZING TRADITIONAL PRACTICES, NURTURING CULTURAL PRIDE, AND FOSTERING A STRONG CONNECTION TO THE ARTS. BY INTEGRATING ARTS EDUCATION WITHIN THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM, OFFERING COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS, AND ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING IN PUBLIC EVENTS, THE PROGRAM AIMS TO CREATE A VIBRANT AND INCLUSIVE CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT, PROMOTING THE RICH HERITAGE OF THE NATIVE HAWAIIAN PEOPLE IN HNA, EAST MAUI, FOR THE BENEFIT OF PRESENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS.
