The Department of Agriculture Rural Utilities Service awarded $893,250 to Chelan County, Washington on December 18, 2025 under the Community Facilities Loans and Grants program (CFDA 10.766).
Chelan County, operating through its Chelan County Natural Resource Department Division as the Natural Resource Program, will deliver the funded activities in Manson, Washington through December 18, 2027. The Community Facilities Loans and Grants program provides affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas that provide essential services to local communities for orderly development, prioritizing projects that enhance public safety and health care services.
Chelan County acts as prime recipient on approximately 70 percent of its federal grant portfolio, with recent major awards including a $3.6 million WaterSMART project from the Bureau of Reclamation for irrigation efficiency improvements and forest fuel reduction, and a $1.24 million Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Program award for instream and floodplain restoration in partnership with Yakama Nation Fisheries. The county also holds a $770,000 Good Neighbor Authority cooperative agreement from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service for forest thinning, fuels treatment, and culvert replacement on National Forest System lands.
