The Department of Agriculture Rural Utilities Service awarded $265,220 to Leech Lake Tribal College, Inc. on September 22, 2025, under the Community Facilities Loans and Grants program (CFDA 10.766).
Leech Lake Tribal College, a 1994 Land Grant College and tribally owned educational institution, received the award to develop an essential community facility project at its campus in Cass Lake, Minnesota, serving the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. The project will run through September 22, 2027.
The Community Facilities Loans and Grants program provides affordable funding to nonprofits, public bodies, and federally recognized tribes to develop essential community facilities in rural areas. Essential community facilities provide services necessary for orderly community development in primarily rural settings and exclude private, commercial, or business undertakings. The program prioritizes projects that enhance public safety, such as fire, police, rescue and ambulance services, and health care facilities.
