About this award

The Toledo Museum of Art (TMA) was awarded a $300,000 Project Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Promotion of the Humanities Challenge Grants program (CFDA 45.130) to develop a comprehensive Climate Smart Mitigation and Adaptation Plan (MAP). The two-year project, running from April 2025 to March 2027, will help TMA assess its greenhouse gas emissions, plan strategies to reduce its carbon footprint, and leverage its expertise as a cultural institution to guide regional and global efforts to address climate change in the arts and culture sector. The project aims to create climate impact tools and communication strategies to engage stakeholders and encourage emissions reductions across the community. As a prominent non-profit museum, TMA has a track record of successfully managing federal grant awards from the NEH and other agencies to support critical infrastructure, educational initiatives, and strategic planning efforts.
