The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) awarded a $450,000 Project Grant on January 1, 2024 to Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Inc., a non-profit organization in Pennsylvania. The grant funds will support the restoration of Phipps' landmark exhibition spaces and the expansion of plant-focused humanities and social sciences programming to grow public participation. Specifically, the grant will enable Phipps to renovate its facilities and develop new educational offerings that integrate the humanities and social sciences with their horticulture and sustainability initiatives. This project aligns with the NEH's Promotion of the Humanities Challenge Grants program (CFDA 45.130), which provides matching funds to strengthen the institutional capacity and infrastructure of humanities organizations across the United States.
