Description
Community project funding/congressionally directed spending - construction - as part of anmed health's master facility plan, anmed health identified a need for freestanding emergency services in the piedmont area of anderson county to enhance access to emergency services. Anmed health proposes the development of a 20,092 square foot freestanding emergency department (FED) with eight treatment areas as well as imaging (ultrasound, CT and X-RAY), lab, and pharmacy. The FED will also have additional areas dedicated for trauma and behavioral health patients. An EMS substation and a sheriff's substation will be on the property. Total square footage for the project is 54,083. The location for the proposed FED in anderson county in the growing area of piedmont is approximately 18 miles from both anmed health medical center and anmed health cannon. Staffed by physicians and nurses, feds are capable of handling a wide range of emergent problems. The level of access and services are the same as hospital-based EDS, but feds are more convenient with shorter wait times than traditional EDS. Studies show that feds have a door-to-discharge time of less than 90 minutes, in contrast to 180 minutes for hospital-based EDS. Typically, laboratory and radiology services such as computed tomography, ultrasound, and X-RAY are on site so physicians can efficiently diagnose and treat patients. Feds provide enhanced access to care while meeting an increasing demand for emergency services.
